His arms wrap around her waist, staring into her eyes.

Urd’s cheeks redden slightly under his intense gaze. “Wh-what? Something on my face?”

This whole marriage thing had just been some sort of system glitch, and they’d been working on Yggdrasil to correct it, but it hadn’t stopped the two of them from enjoying themselves. But she had to admit, Drake was nothing if not earnest, and she was beginning to wonder what would happen after the glitches were cleared, and more, did she really want them to?

Drake smiles and rubs her lower back. “Nothing is on your face. Your eyes… they’re so beautiful. It’s as if you have jewels for eyes.”

“Waxing poetic, are we?” she jokes, embarrassed by the compliment. She wasn’t really romantic by nature; flirtatious yes, romantic, no.

“One of my sister’s lame inventions. Though, come to think of it, Banpei tended to be kinda useful. Just making sure you weren’t like ‘Super Ultra Mega Banpei Mark XIII or something.”

“Oh I see!” she nodded, “I’m actually a bit of an inventor myself. This body was actually a prototype for a full body prosthetic for the terminally ill. Although technically this is one of the third versions of it. I’ve recently done a bit of upgrading to it. Making a little more lightweight.”

“Who doesn’t want to lose a little weight?” Urd chuckled, tossing her hair. “Not that I really need to or anything.” She tilted her head, considering the mechagirl. “So… you’re not really a robot then? Just a cyborg? Why’re you developing full body prosthetics? You sick?”

Maryx shook her head, “No I’m not a Cyborg anymore I’m afraid. I use to. I use to have a prosthetic arm after I lost it to a Rockapede. No I’m a full Automaton now with this body. There’s nothing left of my original form.” she smiled. “Prosthesis was actually my trade, I use to own a shop full of Prosthetic body parts. I actually thought it would be a fantastic Idea for those who were dying to get a second chance at a longer life, like for those who would die as children; dying of things like cancer. So I set about working on one, using myself as the test subject. I wouldn’t put anyone else in the way of Testing.”

Urd pursed her lips, a bit disapproving. “Well, seems it worked out for you. I dunno though, seems like a bid for immortality, and that’s just a pain in the ass. People who can afford it buying new bodies for themselves, not dying when they’re supposed to, it messes up the program, you know?” She gasped, realizing this was not coming out the most genteel way it could. “Not that it’s a bad idea to help out sick kids or anything! No way, that’s pretty, er, noble I guess.”

“Well, nothing lasts forever you know. I wanted to build the form to only last as the adverage lifespan of whoever was using it. ” She chuckled, “My people are already long lived, living into their ten thousands. I already died once transferring into this form. It’s only a matter of time before I fade anyways.”

She nodded, relaxing a bit. “So what do you do now? If you’re not into prothetics anymore?”
